China responded to criticism of its human rights record by the US in its own report Thursday, highlighting abuses in America from racial discrimination to electronic surveillance. The report, released annually by the State Council for the past seven years, said it was necessary to investigate America’s human rights violations to help people realise the "true features" of the self-styled "guardian of human rights". On Wednesday, the US State Department release its 29th annual human rights report, which described China and Iran as the "most systematic" violators. "As in previous years, the United States State Department pointed the finger at human rights situations in more than 190 countries and regions (including China) but kept silent on the violations of human rights in the United States," the report said.
