China responded angrily to mainstream US newspapers criticizing Beijing for late and tepid efforts to search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370, South China Morning Post reported, citing state-controlled Global Times and foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying. On Wednesday, Hua called a Monday report in The New York Times accusing Beijing of dragging its feet an irresponsible and pointless provocation, and Global Times defended the nation’s stance on Wednesday. Another report by The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday highlighted what it called China’s “reluctance” to partner with others in the search.
