China imposes tariffs on Russian and US steel

China has imposed new duties on imports of US and Russian flat-rolled electrical steel, Bloomberg reported. The anti-dumping duties on US products will range from between 7.8% and 64.8%, while the anti-subsidy duties on US products will be from between 11.7% and 44.6%. Ant-subsidy duties on Russian products will range from 6.3% to 25%. Provisional duties on imports of flat-rolled electrical steel, used in the manufacture of power transformers, have been in place since December. However, considering the relatively small volume of US flat-rolled electrical steel imported to China – the 75,000 metric tons represent a tenth of a percentage point of China’s market – the consequences for American steel producers will be minor.
