China and India hold first formal talks since Modi win

India and China on Sunday held their first formal talks since Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took power last month, Bloomberg reported, citing a statement by an Indian foreign ministry spokesman. Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi focused on boosting economic ties during a discussion lasting more than three hours in India’s capital. According to the spokesman, they discussed “everything,” including ramping up Chinese investment into Indian industrial parks and countering terrorism.
