China has started anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into chicken products imports from the US at the request of domestic chicken producers, state media reported, citing the Ministry of Commerce. "The Ministry of Commerce believes that this case meets the legal conditions and has decided to conduct an investigation of unfair trade practices like dumping and subsidising of US chicken products," the ministry said. The US is the largest chicken products exporter to China comprising 90% of the 407,000 metric tons of chicken the country imported in the first half of 2009. This latest investigation is just one of a string of tit-for-tat anti-dumping investigations between the two countries over recent months.
