China unveiled the nation’s first cybersecurity innovation center developed under the strategy of civil-military integration on Tuesday, according to People’s Daily, with Beijing calling on the country to step up its national cyber defenses.
The new center aims to set up a cutting-edge cybersecurity defense system for the military to help win future cyber wars. It was created under the instruction of the Commission for Integrated Military and Civilian Development and related military bodies, which will supervise and manage the center. Its day-to-day operations will be run by 350 Enterprise Security Group, a leading Chinese cybersecurity firm.
The center will also work to encourage more small- and medium-sized companies to cooperate on technology R&D projects.
