If a proposed amendment to corporate regulations is approved, it may take US$3,000 to set up a limited company in China, compared to the current US$12,000. The amendment also allows single-person limited companies to incorporate, whereas the current law requires at least two people. Experts say these proposals reflect changing mindsets among legislators who wrote the original law when China was minding state-owned enterprises, not small and private businesses.
