China may soon make reforms to ensure workers are entitled to paid leave following more incidents of overcrowded trains, roads and tourist sites during the week-long National Day holiday, Bloomberg reported, citing a report by state television. An estimated 430 million people traveled during the national holiday, also known as “Golden Week”. Chinese companies rarely allow requests for paid leave despite laws stating that they are able to as they are not punished under the current laws. The government set out plans in February to have a new paid annual leave system by 2020 but has not given specific details.
