China Mobile (CHL.NYSE, 0941.HK), the world’s biggest mobile operator by subscribers, said it is interested in selling Apple’s iPad tablet computer in China, Reuters reported. The company is also in discussions with Apple about developing a next-generation iPhone that would run on TD-SCDMA – the home-grown 3G mobile standard being used by China Mobile – the company’s chairman Wang Jianzhou said at an annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday. China Mobile announced it will set up a unit in Taiwan, working towards its long-stalled purchase of a 12% stake in Taiwan mobile operator Far EasTone (4904.TW). The company’s chairman also added that it is eyeing investment opportunities in China and abroad, and is still looking to list shares in the domestic Chinese market, the Wall Street Journal reported.
