China Netcom has opened its European headquarters in London, the Financial Times reported. The company, one of China's four state-run telecom operators, plans to use the office to serve Chinese companies with operations in Europe and European firms with operating in China. China Netcom is the latest of a number of Chinese telecom firms to have a presence in the UK. China Telecom opened a London office in 2005, and telecom equipment makers Huawei and ZTE opened operations there in 2002 and 2004, respectively. China Mobile, China's largest mobile operator, plans to open in London early next year.
