High-level Chinese officials have for the first time been formally invited to attend a meeting of the G7. The foreign ministry in Beijing said Finance Minister Jin Renqing and People's Bank of China governor Zhou Xiaochuan would travel to Washington to attend the October 1 meeting of finance ministers and central bankers. John Taylor, US Treasury undersecretary for international affairs, said China's participation in G7 meetings was �historic� but also a logical occurrence given its growing importance to the global economy.
