China will open a tourist sea route linking Xiamen, Fujian province to the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea, Chinese media reported. A trial voyage with 20 passengers is planned for March 2004 and the route will later open for regular tourism, according to the Federation of Chinese Non-governmental Organizations for Defending Sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands. Ownership of the Islands is disputed by China and Japan.
