The rate of idle wind farms in China could fall to 12% this year from about 17% last year as more turbines are connected to the national grid, Bloomberg reported. Idle capacity has dogged China’s wind farm operators after a rush to build turbines in the windiest areas of the nation surpassed the grid’s ability to absorb and transmit the power they produce. This year may be the first since 2010 that the rate of idled turbines has declined, according to official data. Companies such as China Longyuan Power Group (0916.HKG) are set to benefit after suffering from the glut.
