Beijing accused the governments of developed nations of undercutting key elements of the proposed international climate change agreement, Reuters reported. Su Wei, leader of the Chinese delegation at the Bangkok climate treaty negotiations that ended last Friday, said that disagreements over the framework for the new agreement remain "quite large." Negotiations are to be completed at a final round of talks in two months in Copenhagen, Denmark. Su told state media that developed countries were trying to abandon key principles of the Kyoto Protocol, the current climate change treaty due to expire in 2012. China is not alone in its objection; other senior negotiators from developing countries walked out of a session in Bangkok last week, saying they would not negotiate an agreement without the Kyoto Protocol.
