China schedules new human rights dialogues

China announced that it will engage in discussions regarding human rights issues with the UK, Germany and Australia, in the wake of its withdrawal from its human rights dialogue with the US. Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said separate talks will be held with the UK and Germany in May and with Australia in July. Beijing suspended its dialogue with the US after Washington indicated that it would sponsor a United Nations resolution condemning China's human rights record.
