China secures oil from Gabon

Sinopec subsidiary Unipec signed a contract with French oil company Total Gabon under which crude oil from Gabon will be sold to China. It is the first time that China will purchase crude oil from the African country.

Jacques Marraud des Grottes, director-general of Total Gabon, said that the annual supply of crude to China by the company was "significant" adding that the supply was guaranteed.

Sinopec also signed a protocol accord with Gabon covering oil exploration and production.
