China’s Minister of Commerce Chen Deming said there may be an increase in trade conflict now that international trade talks have stalled, the South China Morning Post reported. He said China will prepare by speeding up economic structural adjustments and strengthening regional cooperation. Chen’s remarks first appeared in the state-run People’s Daily. He rejected claims by Western critics that China was responsible for the collapse of the Doha round of World Trade Organization talks in Geneva. "China has nothing to do with the talks’ collapse," he said, adding that "China has shown sufficient flexibility and made constructive moves in multiple key moments." He said China should now "further strengthen trade ties with the least developed nations and support their development."
