China set to be No.1 tourist destination: UNWTO

The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) said Thursday that China is expected to become the No.1 tourism country in terms of both inbound and outbound travelers within five to seven years, state media reported. China saw about 53 million foreign visitors in 2010, and UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai said he expects that number to increase further. "China occupied the place of Italy as the fourth most important destination two or three years ago and now it is in third place," he said. "In the future, China will win second place and then first place…It is simply natural development."
