China Shipping Container Lines said that it would benefit from China’s stimulus plans.
Li Shaode, chairman of China Shipping Container Lines, said in CargoNews Asia that China’s shipping industry support package and the decision to make Shanghai an international financial and shipping centre will be good for the company to ride out the financial crisis.
The company recorded a US$6.3 million net profit in 2008, plunging 98.7% on the year. The Shanghai-based shipping company will integrate its port and logistics assets to cut operating cost and plans to raise shipping prices starting April.
The main activities of the company include owning, chartering and operating container vessels for the provision of international and domestic container marine transportation service.
