China Southern Airlines will take delivery of the first of five Airbus A380s next year. Originally, they were due to arrive just before the 2008 Beijing Olympics but the order was delayed. China Southern is the only mainland carrier to order the A380 so far. Air China says it prefers the Boeing B747, although this is a decision that could still change. Business Traveller reports this is a popular aircraft in Asia, with Singapore Airlines already owning 12 of the wide-body planes and with more and more orders coming in from Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Korean Airlines, Kingfisher and THAI Airways.
