China Southern Airlines has become the first airline to exclusively own and operate its own terminal in China at Beijing Capital Airport as a result of an Yn18m joint venture with Beijing Ground Service Co. The deal gives China's largest carrier exclusive use of Terminal One, which has been mostly sitting idle since a second terminal was completed in 1999. However, the first terminal is being refurbished and it should reopen in October 2004.
The new company will also handle all ground-handling services of China Southern Air Holding Co's subsidiaries or partner airlines, including China Northern Airlines, Xinjiang Airlines, Xiamen Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.
