China SUV sales on the rise

Auto executives made the pitch for a golden era of the SUV in China as Beijing’s annual motor show opened Monday, according to The Wall Street Journal. While the overall growth of the auto market has decelerated, sales of SUVs rose 52% in 2015 from a year earlier. In January, China began allowing all couples to have two children, ending the controversial one-child policy that had been in place for 35 years, which the industry believes will boost SUV demand. Chinese car owners are also becoming more affluent, able to afford roomier rides and holidays in the countryside.
