According to Taiwan media, Wang Xiaochu, the chairman of China Telecom, will visit Taiwan to discuss possible cooperation in several areas, including CDMA 2000, the Internet of Things service (more on this here), Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and the tri-networks integration (telephone, cable television and internet networks) during the last 10 days of October.
Wang will lead a group of 12 China Telecom managers to Taiwan.
The number of China Telecom’s mobile phone users exceeded 78 million as of the end of July, while the number of its 3G users was over 7 million.
Wang will look for popular low-priced mobile phones in Taiwan to expand its market share in the region.
CapitalVue reports that in addition, China Telecom also intends to collaborate with Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile and Far Eastone Telecommunications to build a submarine optical fiber cable.
