China Telecom eyes Europe expansion

China Telecom, the country's biggest fixed-line operator, has set up an office in London as an entry point for exploring expansion opportunities in Europe, state media reported. The new office is targeting business related to Chinese companies' overseas operations, overseas companies with Chinese investment and telecoms business in regions home to overseas Chinese live. In 2002 China Telecom established its first overseas office in the US and was granted a license to provide international telephone, Internet data services and TV transmissions between China and the United States.
