China Telecom to open Internet cafes

China Telecom, China's leading fixed-line telephone company, announced it has received a license to operate a nationwide chain of Internet cafes, as it taps into its expanding broadband network to fuel the company's growth. The company did not elaborate on its operational plans, but analysts say the cafes could boost China Telecom's bottom line, though the fixed line business will continue to drive most of its business.
