China tests wireless networks for Beijing Olympics

[photopress:WLAN.gif, full, alignright]China Mobile is carrying out tests to see which wireless network will be the safest to use for the upcoming 2008 Olympics, the first Olympic Games in its history to use WLAN.

Ma Bentang, senior engineer at China Mobile who is in charge of mobile planning for the Olympics, said “the current WLAN technology 820.11i has big security loopholes and is easy to attack.” This would mean potential problems for journalists reporting on the Games who could lose stories or photos during transmission.
