Li urged China Mobile to upgrade TD-SCDMA networks and further improve the voice and video quality for China’s homegrown 3G platform before the Olympic Games.
The ministry has set up a special working committee to focus on 3G service promotion and development.
The ministry officially started operations on June 29. It consists of the former Information Industry Ministry, the science and technology department of the National Development and Reform Commission, some operations of the state council, and the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
Note that although TD-SCDMA is 3G it only works on TD-SCDMA mobiles, not the normal mobile which almost all visitors will be carrying.
