In a move aimed at easing trade tensions with the US and smoothing the way for talks, China has issued rules to limit textile exports through a quota system, the Asian Wall Street Journal reported, citing the ministry of commerce's website and textile export officials. China recently defused a dispute with the EU by agreeing to limit some types of textile exports. In the latest move, beginning on July 20 China-based textile companies must apply for temporary export-approval permits to countries that have limited Chinese products. It covers cotton shirts and trousers, categories on which the US has imposed quotas, among other textiles.
