China unveils $3bn tariffs in response to US

China will hit back against Washington’s latest round of tariffs with $3 billion of duties on US consumer products including steel, fruit, and pork, Bloomberg reports, confirming its resolution to fight a trade war ‘to the end’.

China also intends to sue the US for unfair trading practice within the WTO framework, according to a statement made by the Commerce Ministry earlier today.

Although making it clear that it feels prepared to meet further protectionism with retaliation, the Commerce Ministry also urged the US to avoid taking bilateral trade relations to “dangerous place”, hoping that it will pull the current situation back “from the brink”.
