A 500-person Chinese delegation led by Hong Kong chief executive Donald Tsang and Guangdong Province Governor Huang Huahua were in Vancouver to attend a trade forum to woo Canadian investors, resulting in the signing of contracts on port construction, steel and aluminum processing projects, development of flight simulators, circuit board manufacturing and chemical production, the AP reported. The leaders talked up the ways in which China is moving to increase international trade opportunities through the establishment of internal trade agreements between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and through the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) which facilitates the path for foreign businesses to enter the mainland market via Hong Kong and Macao by offering tariff concessions and other preferential treatment.
