China world's No 3 importer

China became the world's number three importer in 2003, according to a report released by the World Trade Organization (WTO). The report said that, in US dollars, China recorded import growth of 40% in 2003, adding that mainland exports grew 35% during the same period. China's imports are exceeded only by the US and Germany, the WTO report stated.
