China's airline passengers up 16.1% in August

China’s airlines saw passenger throughput for August soar 16.1% year-on-year to 26.3 million.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said the number of passengers flying on international routes surged 33.5% year-on-year to 1.9 million, while the domestic flights brought passenger throughput to 24.4 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 14.9%.
During the period from January to August, passenger volume was 178 million while cargo volume stood at 3.55 million tons.
China Knowledge reports China Southern Airlines, the country’s largest fleet, carried 7.57 million passengers last month, and its cargo throughput was 987,300 tons.
