Operating revenues at China’s 500 largest enterprises rose 6.3% in 2009, Bloomberg reported, citing state media. According to an industrial ranking report issued by the China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association, combined operating revenues rose to US$4.1 trillion, while profits grew by 25% to US$221 billion. Combined assets increased 22% to US$13.44 billion. The top three contributing firms all came from the energy industry: Sinopec (SNP.NYSE, 600028.SH, 0386.HK) was first in terms of operating revenue with US$204 billion, followed by China State Grid with US$185 billion, and China National Petroleum Corp, the parent of listed Petrochina (PTR.NYSE; 601857.SH, 0857.HK), which came in third with US$179 billion in operating revenues.
