Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras met with China’s Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing Thursday to discuss investment and trade deals, the South China Morning Post reported, citing various news wires. Greece is seeking foreign investors as the country auctions off its assets, under the terms of its bailout agreement. Samaras’ courtship of Chinese investment in Greece was overshadowed by the European Commission’s decision to impose a 47% duty on imported solar panels from China. Li said he hopes Samaras can “play a positive role” in the fight against protectionism from the European Commission and its decision to levy the solar duties.
