China’s exports in October totalled US$22.79bn, 0.1 per cent higher than in the same month of 2000, Xinhua reported. Imports totalled US$18.9bn, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2 per cent, giving a trade surplus of US$3.89bn, 0.26 per cent higher than in October 2000. In the first 10 months of 2001, exports rose by 6.1 per cent year-onyear to US$217.58bn. Imports rose 10 per cent to US$200.25bn and the trade surplus of US$17.33bn was 25 per cent lower than in the same period of 2000.
