China's Trade Surplus Shrinks

China’s trade surplus fell by more than 80 percent year on year in
September after growing 26 percent in August.

Customs statistics
showed China’s trade surplus was US$290 million in September, down from last
September’s US$2.12 billion and the smallest surplus since the country posted a trade
deficit in March.

Total foreign trade reached US$606 billion for the first
nine months, a rise of 36.3 percent from the same period a year earlier.
