Chinese airlines suspend use of Boeing 737s following Ethiopian Airlines crash

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) ordered Chinese airlines to suspend use of their Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts, after the deadly crash of a 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines on Sunday, reported Reuters.

The flight was bound for Nairobi and crashed minutes after take-off, killing all 157 passengers on board.

It was the second time that a 737 MAX was involved in an accident since the 2017 release of Boeing’s latest version of the narrow-body jet, with the first being a plane operated by Indonesian budget carrier Lion Air in October last year.

A total of 96 Boeing 737 MAX jets are currently in service with Chinese airlines.
