Chinese autoparts firm considers deal with troubled airbag maker Takata

China’s Ningbo Joyson Electronic Corp., hours after closing its acquisition of a Michigan-based air-bag maker, may now be interested in purchasing Takata Corp., The Wall Street Journal reports. Joyson, a major automotive-parts maker with holdings around the world, is looking at Takata to grow its active and passive safety-components business. The emergence of a potential buyer comes as Takata struggles with what has now become the biggest recall in automotive history. Auto makers are recalling millions of vehicles over concerns that faulty inflaters could cause Takata air bags to explode. Air-bag explosions have already been linked to 11 deaths worldwide.
