In Australia, Gold Coast tourism operators are arranging classes on Chinese culture to cater for the boom in visitors from China.
Martin Winter of the Gold Coast Tourism said the Chinese cultural training sessions have been attended by representatives of the city’s major hotels and other members of the tourism industry recently.
"We are required to show the sort of courtesy to Chinese travelers that we would expect when we travel into China," he said. Included in the training are basic cultural do’s and don’ts, plus instruction on the best way to welcome people from China.
The first direct flight from China Southern Airlines this week landed in Brisbane.
Goldcoast.com.au reports the airline will have three direct flights a week coming to Brisbane, and about 80% of the 42,000 passengers are expected to come to the Gold Coast.
