Chinese firm Globelink China Logistics has bought Manchester freight
forwarder CBI Global Freight Management. The firm will relocate to the
World Freight Terminal in Manchester airport, and is part of the
Chinese freight forwarder’s plans to expand into the UK.
CBI will also re-brand as Uni Logistics and become a subsidiary of
Globelink, which is one of the 10 largest privately owned logistics
firms in China.
Nigel Sleigh, managing director of CBI Global Freight Management, told
Road Transport, ‘Manchester has been chosen over London by Globelink
because of the unrivalled logistical opportunities afforded by
Manchester Airport.’
No mention was made of the local football team which for any Chinese
company would be a major plus
