Chinese companies are rapidly establishing manufacturing plants in the Middle East, according to an article in Gulf News. Projects include a US$6m colour television plant in the UAE, a US$15m oil pipeline flange factory in Qatar, a US$20m cable unit in Saudi Arabia and an industrial park in Bahrain that will contain at least 10 producers of hightech equipment.
"These projects are only the precursors to several more," said Hao Fen, chairman and general manager of Chinamex, who was speaking at the Chinese Commodities Fair held in Sharjah in December.
