South Korea has intensified quarantine measures at airports nationwide after border officials detected African swine flu in processed pork products imported from China, Reuters reports.
The chances of the disease spreading to South Korea is low due to the fact that the food products were heat-treated, according to an announcement by South Korea’s agriculture ministry, but the incident will still raise worries about the safety of Chinese products.
China’s Shandong province has also announced that it has banned the entry of pigs and pork products from high-risk areas into the province, after a fourth Chinese province reported an outbreak of the disease on Thursday.
