Chinese hackers infiltrated The New York Times‘ computer network, attaining passwords for its reporters and other employees, The New York Times reported. Over the past four months, the hackers, whose methods have been likened by experts to those used by the Chinese military, accessed the personal computers of 53 employees, including Shanghai bureau chief, David Barboza, who reported on the wealth amassed by Wen Jiabao’s relatives. The Times and cyber security professionals repelled the attack and secured the network after covertly tracking the hackers’ movements. There are no signs that the hackers stole customer data or accessed information from reporting on the Wen family.
