Arabian Automobiles, Dubai dealers for Nissan, Infiniti and Renault, has been testing an MG compact car, a brand now owned by Chinese carmaker SAIC. The car, badged as an MG 550 1.8T, is due to go on sale in the United Arab Emirates in the next few weeks. The sedan is built by Shanghai Automotive Industry and is already on sale in China as a Roewe 550. The 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is linked to a 5-speed automatic and front-wheel-drive. The car has been given at least one excellent review well before its launch, with one review saying, "The car truly is attractive, with a hint of ‘premium’ VW, only better." DriveArabia reports a launch date has not been set as yet but the price looks as if it will be around US$15,000.
