Chinese shoes may face EU import duties

While fighting the rising tide of Chinese textile imports, the EU warned this week it could impose import duties on Chinese footwear if it's established that unfair trade practices caused the triple-digit leap in shipments since the start of this year, state media reported. The EU Commission said shipments of some Chinese footwear in the first four months of this year had jumped 681% from a year ago, with others jumping by more than 1,000%, while prices dropped by 28% over the same period.
