[photopress:Chinese_Tsinghua_president.jpg,full,alignright]A study by the Research Group of Study on the Quality of University Presidents in China indicates that Chinese presidents of universities and colleges are younger and more likely to change jobs, compared to their American counterparts.
On average Chinese university presidents are 52 years old which is six years younger than their American counterparts. Their average stay in office is only 4.1 years, compared with 6.6 years in the American equivalent.
The survey also shows that most Chinese universities and colleges have opened their own websites, as the Internet has been widely used by these higher learning institutions as a major means of communication. (And, an outsider’s view, they are extremely well designed and maintained. Equal to, and in some cases much better than, the American equivalent.)
This first survey included information of 1,500 Chinese universities and colleges and used statistical results of a similar surveys conducted in the United States.
