The head of the supervisory board of China Investment Corp (CIC) said the Chinese sovereign wealth fund is still open towards making investments in the US, the Wall Street Journal reported. Jin Liqun said that the US is one of the best partners for China but urged President-elect Barack Obama to restructure the US regulatory system and boost the country’s savings rate. He endorsed the US government’s stimulus package as necessary to strengthen investor confidence but said regulatory reform is needed for stability. Jin also stated that China should continue its own financial reforms even during the global economic downturn.
