City targets theme park

Tianjin officials are negotiating with a division of the US entertainment firm Paramount, hoping to attract a US$7 billion theme park to the municipality, the South China Morning Post reported. Though the idea was floated three years ago, this is the first time the scale of the desired investment in the emerging tourist industry has been announced. �Next step, our district will see a Paramount theme park,� said Song Lianxin, a deputy director of the Tianjin New Area administration. �The US party will invest US$7 billion to build the park with us.� The park would be located in a 75 square kilometer seaside development being promoted to Hong Kong investors.
