Acer has launched cloud computing software for its new desktop computer. Cloud computing is Web-based processing, where shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices (such as smartphones) on demand over the internet.
The software, named Clear.fi, will come pre-installed in all Acer products such as desktop computers, notebooks, netbooks, smartphones and tablets, with the goal of achieving interoperability between all these devices.
Clear.fi will be installed on an estimated 70 million products in 2011, including 50 million notebooks and netbooks, 10 million desktop computers, 5 million smartphones and 5 million other devices.
Plans for a second Acer base in China – which will be in Chongqing – are proceeding since the company’s base in Shanghai cannot meet the demand in China.
FocusTaiwan reported market sources as saying Acer is also planning to set up a third base in Beijing to cover the northern areas.
