A cross-border natural gas pipeline connecting Turkmenistan and China, which will be the country's largest-ever overland natural gas construction project, has begun construction, Economic Observer reported (in Chinese). The 10,000-kilometer pipeline which will reach from Turkmenistan's Amu Darya through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to Shanghai, will be built by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). According to contract, signed by the two countries in July, Turkmenistan will provide China 30 million cubic meters of natural gas a year for 30 years.
